Reflections From the Plane

Hello 👋 Figured I'd get a quick blog in while I had the time on a plane!

The hubby and I are heading back from a 5 day, 4 night trip away. The amount of times I debated this trip is unreal... but let me tell you, I am SO glad we did!

There's this underlying guilt about leaving your kiddos behind when you travel. I'm not sure where it comes from, and if it's just me or if it's a real thing! However, we travel with our girl quite a bit and she does a LOT with us just in our day to day. As a working Mom, I'm constantly juggling all of the hats; Wife, Mom, Colleague, Leader, committees and boards, housekeeper, chef, and who knows how many more I'm forgetting (is Mom brain still real if you're kiddo is older than 3? 🫣) When you juggle all those hats that means you're constantly on, you don't get breaks and if you do they're not long enough to actually feel ahead because it usually means you're falling behind in one of the other's.

So what am I getting at here? Let the guilt go, take the trip, do things that still make you feel human and whole again so that you can come back refreshed and energized to be the version of yourself you know is there!

We got to go to Phoenix just us and another couple. Filled with quality time to connect, amazing food, THE PGA tour to be at (Waste Management), lots of hiking and the beauty of nature (thank you God), and so many fun memories... in the beautiful sunshine ☀️ which alone is enough to make anyone happy!!

While we were away having fun; our girl was living her best life. So excited for sleepovers, parties, snacks, and all the attention!! Knowing that she was being so well cared for by everyone was fantastic. In fact the few times we would FaceTime she was too busy having fun to focus on talking to us - kind of sad, but reassuring 😂

Now that we're back to reality; I can definitely say it was worth it, I can definitely say I miss my girl so much and can't wait to see her, and I can definitely say we need to prioritize smaller chunks of quality time in between the trips - even with a crazy busy schedule and life.

Faith forward in 2026 has been a focus so far this year, and I'm really leaning in to the things God is opening my eyes to. I am so incredibly thankful for this journey I'm on and the things I get to experience. Thanks to everyone who helped take care of B while we were gone and loved her like their own (it truly takes a village), and thanks to my hubby and awesome friends for a trip worth remembering for years to come!

Key takeaway here? Plan the quality time... take the trip... have the date night... reach out for help so you can prioritize the relationships in your life because it's worth every second!

Now let's land this plane so I can give my baby the biggest hug in the world 🌎💕

You forgot to list one of the most important hats - the Erin hat!
I'm glad you had the chat to wear that one on your trip : )
